All of the beads are kiln-annealed. Except for the Tonbodama beads, the beads are made with Italian glass.
Tonbodama beads are the beads made with Japanese techniques. I use Japanese Satake Lead Glass, which has lovely soft pastels and bright tranparents. All of the components you see (flowers, leaves, staments, etc) are pre-made in cane form (murrini), which then cut into little slices and placed carefully on to the bead. The cane making is somewhat similar to the old style candies that has patterns and writings in the middle. It is an elaborate process as each cane takes up to 5 hours.
